We’ve been reading the classic tale, The Tale of Peter Rabbit and have wanted to add a little bit of rigorous fun for my upper level students. The end of the year always prompts me to make sure my kiddos will be ready to successfully move to the next grade level. Because text dependent questions are a biggie in third grade, I want a firm foundation before our summer break begins.
I thought to make this a bit more fun, I’d create a SUBSCRIBER FREEBIE game to share with you!
First, the game. It requires students to work with a partner or small group. They will roll a dice, move their snap cube the amount of spaces on the dice, draw a card, and answer the question on the recording sheet. The questions on each card require the students to go back into the text to find answers. The card will tell how many snap cubes they can add on to build on to their fence.
I saw a post on using Building Blocks in a math game and thought it would be a great game for my older students to play for any skill. Mr. McGregor’s garden seemed like the perfect game board with snap cubes being used to keep Peter out!
I have included game board, instructions, game cards, and recording sheets. The goal is to build the tallest fence.
